Recognizing a hazard due to a training gap in the industry, the DCSC made this a number one priority to provide basic awareness level knowledge to everyone that works within a data center.

What is the Certificate:

The Data Center Safety Awareness Certificate, created and offered by the Data Center Safety Council (DCSC) in partnership with Certus ensures everyone on your site has a shared baseline safety awareness and language. Completions are recorded in the DCSC Credential Verification portal, where credentials can be validated by employers.

Anyone entering a data center, including all employees and contractors. It is targeted for individuals seeking access to sites operated by DCSC member companies and non-members.

Accreditation & Compliance

While not formally recognized by OSHA or NFPA, the course was developed by data center EHS professionals at multiple global sites using these standards and their international counterparts as the framework for course design.

The course aligns with OSHA, NFPA, and similar global safety standards but is not an officially certified or accredited course. Instead, it bridges the gap between vague regulations and specific data center environment needs.

Testing & Certification

Yes, the course includes a 30-question final exam.

Learners may attempt the exam up to 3 times. After 3 failures, learners must re-enroll in the course.

A score of 70% is required to pass.

Yes, and it includes a unique credential number. Employers can verify credentials using the DCSC Credential Verification portal, which will launch alongside the course.

The certificate is valid for 2 years.

The renewal course is under development and will be released prior to the 2-year expiration window.
